In light of the tragedy that gripped the nation last month, SBG Ireland will be offering free self defence classes for women at our HQ at Naas Road every Saturday at 11am.
The classes will be coached by Jaqueline Almeida and will provide participants with a comfortable environment where they will learn a vast variety of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques.
"This will be on-going and on at the same time every Saturday. Don't worry if you miss this weekend, you can start any time. Feel free to drop in and watch one if you're considering taking it up. Also this class is free to any girls from any other clubs that want to supplement their training" - Coach Kavanagh
We have already had an overwhelming response with ladies aged from 16-60 taking part.
Speaking to the Irish Independent Coach Kavanagh explained that "Even if self-defence taught here is never used in a woman's life, it's still going to give them confidence, to help her walk down the street feeling unafraid, to report that man who groped her at a night-club to security, to know she has techniques to defend herself if a man tries to hurt her and to leave that unhealthy relationship she wants to escape from. Martial arts made me comfortable in my own skin and I want that for all Irish women."
Please contact us if you would like any further information or pop in to the gym and see us at Naas Road, Walkinstown.
